Functional Integration
Functional Integration lessons are 1-2-1 sessions which take place in my studio on a low table, fully clothed.
Together we notice your posture and movement patterns and using a light, listening touch I help you to feel how you move or don't move and to understand the habits that prevent your skeleton functioning to it's full potential.
Together we explore and observe the different possibilities of movement and you develop a deeper awareness of yourself and your potential to move differently.
Bolsters and pads are used to maximise comfort
Different positions help you to experience new sensations
You are guided by the teacher to feel for yourself how you move
Immediately after a Functional Integration lesson students may notice things such as:
feeling taller and/or lighter
a sense of calmness or peace
walking feels different
their eyes feel brighter
they can turn/bend more easily
they are breathing differently
something deep within them has shifted or changed (their state)
These outcomes are often long-lasting and other differences are noticed over time such as sleeping more easily, feeling less stressed, finding every day activities easier and specific skills improved.
Because the Feldenkrais Method® tunes in to the central nervous system these changes can eventually become the norm. Once the possibility of being in a new state has been experienced then it becomes possible to return to it. You become resilient.
